Over the past 12 months the undoubted king of the smartphones has been the Samsung Galaxy S2 which has proved to be a best seller worldwide.  HTC have now released a new premium handset that looks to take the place of this excellent model.  The new Sensation XL offers a great blend of looks and specification but can it outshine its Samsung rival.

 

Despite being several months newer than the S2 the HTC Sensation XL does not surpass what is offered on the Samsung in several areas.  Although this is initially disappointing it is worth remembering that the S2 is an exceptional handset that still boasts specification that betters many newer phones.  In the processing department the new Sensation XL offers a powerful 1.5 Ghz processor together with a high quality Adreno 205 graphics processing unit.  Despite the chipset only offering a single core users of the phone can still experience fast operation even when using multi tasking facilities.  The S2 does offer a dual core chip which is an ARM Cortex A9 chip clocked at 1.2Ghz.  Although the speed of the phone is similar to the XL in general use the dual cores come into their own for multi tasking providing a slightly smoother experience.  The Sensation XL offers 768MB of RAM memory compared with 1GB installed on the Samsung.  This makes the S2 more prepared for any advances in technology that may be introduced over the coming months.  

 

Despite the massive 4.7 inch S-LCD screen fitted on the HTC Sensation XL the developers have opted to keep the same 480 x 800 resolution that was offered on the original Sensation handset  This screen does offer superb quality with naturally deep dark tones and vivid bright colours but the increase in screen size has resulted in the pixels per inch rating of the phone dropping to 199.  In contrast the Galaxy S2 offers a smaller 4.3 inch display that uses Super AMOLED technology to produce an image which is arguably the best currently available with the exception of the Apple iPhone.  The model uses the same resolution as the HTC but the smaller screen means that there are more pixels per inch at 217.

 

The camera features on a modern phone are now a key factor in many consumers purchasing decision and both of these models offer great facilities.  The Sensation XL offers an 8 mega pixel camera with geo tagging abilities and a dual LED flash.  The device can also record video footage at 720P resolution whilst the front facing camera can capture images at 1.3 mega pixel standard as well as enable video calling.  The S2 offers the same resolution on the main camera but exceeds what is on offer on the HTC with its 1080P video capture and 2 mega pixel front facing camera.

The iPhone 4S And The HTC Sensation XL Benefit From Premium Processors

Two of the heavyweights of the smartphone world have gone head to head by releasing premium devices within days of one another.  The HTC Sensation XL and the Apple iPhone 4S are both now available to the public so we take a look at how these two models compare against one another.

 

One area where the iPhone 4S definitely comes out on top is screen performance.  This models offers a 3.5 inch LED backlit screen which is 1.2 inches smaller than the Sensation XL but Apple manage to pack more pixels into this space thanks to a higher resolution of 640 x 960.  As a result of this extraordinary resolution the handset is capable of displaying a huge 326 pixels per inch.  The Sensation XL uses an S-LCD display that measures a huge 4.7 inches making it the phone of choice for video fans.  This screen displays a lower resolution than the Apple at 480 x 800 and this has a dramatic effect on the amount of pixels that can be displayed, reducing the number to just 199 per inch.  Besides another handset you would be impressed by the quality of the HTC but against the world beating iPhone the screen certainly comes out second best. 

 

There is a real battle in the processor department between these two phones.  On the one hand we have the Apple that offers a lower powered chip but one with dual cores against a single core chip with immense power on the HTC.  The iPhone 4S uses Apples own A5 chipset which includes a 1Ghz ARM Cortex A9 processor.  This is backed up by 512MB of RAM which is a lower figure than is offered on the HTC but ultimately the combination of the two result in better all round performance from the iPhone 4S.  The Sensation XL uses a single core 1.5Ghz together with 768MB of RAM and together these give great performance on the phone but just not in the same league as the 4S.  In terms of the storage capacity offered on these phones there is no difference if we compare the Sensation XL with Apples basic model as they both offer an adequate 16GB of capacity with no external media slot.  The nice aspect about the iPhone 4S is that it does offer two larger capacity models in the form of a 32GB and a 64GB model meaning there really is an iPhone 4S to suit every kind of user.

 

Both of these models perform admirably and offer high quality screens but the iPhone 4S does seem to come out on top in this comparison.  There is no doubt however that both models will prove hugely popular and anybody who finds the smaller screen size on the iPhone a little restrictive should look no further than the larger display on the Sensation XL.

Problem 1: "error 3200"

Before you upgrade to iOS 5, how to avoid "error 3200", or just try your luck?

Answer: error 3200 may be caused by Apple server. Till now, error 3200 is less than before but still quite a lot people find it occur. The best solution is wait and upgrade when the server's trafic is not that high or just repeat the operation untill you success. I do not recommend you do that unless you need it right away.

Problem 2: iPad 1 and iOS 5

Is there any problem when I am upgrading my iPad first generation to iOS 5?

I think that Apple just wants us to installation their app, so I just put it on the last screen and stay away from me.

Answer: Yes, you can use iCloud with iPhone 4 and iPad 2, but not your Mac computer. When you finish the installation of iOS 5, the welcome page will intrduce you to iCloud app or you can enter setting to start your iCloud. The data will not sync to your Mac computer.

Problem 7: Same ID and same data

My wife and I use the same ID on iTunes and our contact combine together after I upgraded to iOS 5. How can I just seperate them and how to avoid it happen again?

Answer: I think that you use the same ID when you use iTunes and iCloud, so your iPhone combined the contact from different devices. To keep your contact alone, you should set different Apple ID and iCloud ID. You can still use the same ID to log in the Apple Store and you will keep your contact, bookmark and calendar different.

Problem 8: iCloud and other sync program

I used to use Google to sync my calendar. When I use iCloud, what is the different and should I stop using Google first and then to use iCloud? Can I choose my photo, play list and video and so on?

Answer: Google calendar and iCloud can coexist on one device. I use Google to sync work stuff and use iCloud for private. All the picutures from your iPhone will sync to your computer with iCloud if your computer has the same iCloud feature, but not for album. Two of the biggest names in the mobile phone world go head to head in this comparison.  The new iPhone 4 8GB from Apple has just been released whilst the Blackberry Torch 9800 has proven one of the most popular models of the past 12 months.  Both of these phones prove that there is still plenty of life in the old dog, even with new and more illustrious models being released.  Here we see which of these superb models should be grabbing your attention.

 

Both of these devices prove well endowed in the power department.  The iPhone 4 8GB sports the same chipset that is used in the original iPad.  This means the model offers a fast 1Ghz processor that moves things along at a steady pace.  The Torch 9800 actually offers a much smaller processor at just 684Mhz but thanks to the better power management offered by the device the phone actually feels faster than its Apple rival.  This speed is beneficial to a number of areas of the phone but the superb new browser seems lightning fast. This new WebKit based application supports tabbed browsing and offers a complete online experience.  The Safari browser present on the iPhone 4 8GB does offer the facility for viewing multiple pages but surfing the web is never quite as smooth as the full tabbed experience present on the Blackberry.  Things look up for the iPhone when we examine the screen technology used on these phones.  The Apple offers a superb 640 x 960 from its LED backlit Retina display compared to the more modest 360 x 480 on the Torch 9800.  Both of these phone have screens slightly smaller than the industry standard with the iPhone displaying 3.5 inches and the Blackberry 3.2 inches.

The BlackBerry Curve 9360 is one of the latest additions to the BlackBerry Curve series but only has slight improvements from its predecessor. Like the earlier models it has a sleek, stylish, and lightweight design. It has a 4.29 in / 109 mm height, 2.36 in / 60 mm width, 0.43 in / 11 mm depth, and a weight of 3.49 oz / 99 g. It also has a 2.4-inch 480x360 pixel HVGA+ color display LCD screen which is still slightly small. It is powered by the BlackBerry OS 7.0 with pre-installed applications such as Social Feeds, Music Storefront, and BlackBerry Protect1. It also comes with an 800 MHz CPU for a powerful performance. The BlackBerry Curve 9360 is also quad-band, making it better than the dual-band offered by its predecessors.



The storage capacity of BlackBerry Curve 9360 is the same as the BlackBerry Curve 9350. It has a 512 MB RAM memory expandable up to 32 GB with Hot Swappable MicroSD. With this, you can keep more photos using the phone's 5 megapixel camera with LED flash and for better quality of taking photos; it also has face detection, image stabilization, 4x digital zoom, and scene modes. The audio formats it supports are .3gp2, .m4v, .avi, .wmv, .wma, .mp3, .flac, .ogg, .aac, .amr, .wav, and .mid. The video formats it supports include .mp4, .m4a, .3gp, .avi, and .asf. Picture formats the smart phone supports are .bmp, .jpg, .gif, .png, .tif, .wbmp.



BBM and instant messaging (IM) applications are still present and of course, helpful. The BlackBerry Curve 9360s battery life is not as impressive as its predecessor, the BlackBerry Curve 9350. As compared to the latter that has a talk time capacity of up to 5.5 hours, standby time of 14.5 days, music playback up to 45 hours with headphones, and video playback of up to 9 hours, the BlackBerry Curve 9360 only has a 5-hour talk time, 14-day standby time, 25-hour music playback time, and a 6-hour video playback time.



With the BlackBerry Curve 9360s specification s and features, it only offers slight improvements from the earlier model.
