Steps to be taken before Windows 7 upgrade

Author: Sarah Jones19

If a computer has Vista, it can be easily upgraded to Windows 7. Apart from the Vista users others have also options to install Windows 7 on their machines. But a few things should be checked before the simple installation procedure starts.
One has to download, install, and then run the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor from Microsoft website. It will automatically send a report to the user whether his or her machine is compatible for windows 7. If the particular machine is well-suited for the installation, suggestions will be provided for the next steps. Information of the users PC is kept confidential by Microsoft
Before a user runs Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor Beta, all the USB devices and accessories as Printers and external hard drives should be plugged in to check their compatibility. One has to check it because all theses hard drives and modem will be used regularly in the machine.
Few points to remember
Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor Beta is a prerelease version
It is available in US English only
Though it is a constant and fine-quality Beta, it is not the finished product.
Steps to follow
As soon as the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor scan finishes, options will be displayed for upgrading to windows 7. Either it will affirm that the PC is compatible or it will recommend the user for buying a new one with stating the proper configuration.
Generally, if a user is using a PC with Windows Vista and the advisor suggests that the upgrade can be done. And the transition will be quite smooth. If the operating system is Vista, it should be upgraded to the latest service pack. Vista upgrade (http://www.supportonclick.com/VistaUpgrade.php?price=23&plan=Vista Upgrade&cur=USD&time=0&cs=bc0030b2e3ad2491cc2d1800369240d0) is very simple. On the other hand, Windows 7 will be available at stores on October 22.
If a user is running Windows XP or any other operating system, it’s better for him to buy a new PC.
But the best way for a general user to understand the requirements is to discuss with a local computer service provider. One has to back up current files and settings, perform a custom installation, and then reinstall all the files and settings.

The best QWERTY mobile phones in the world..

Author: Matt Sharp

If you do a lot of emails or texts on your phone, then you can't beat a phone with a QWERTY keyboard. Let's take a look at three of the best on the market.

HTC Snap

First up is Windows Mobile, and today, it's to be found in the body of the HTC Snap. Anyone who's used Windows Mobile before will know it's exceptionally good at emails and info management, and the HTC Snap is no exception to that rule. You get the same excellent POP3 and Exchange Server (for your corporate emails) support, but the HTC Snap also includes something new: Inner Circle. This is a new feature for the HTC Snap, that lets you set an Inner Circle of friends or important people, and automatically prioritises emails from them, to make sure you get the emails that matter the most, first.

Nokia N97

After the triumphant launch of the Nokia 5800, which was only ever meant to be a mid-range phone, Nokia needed a new top-ender to really wow the public. And that top-ender is the hyper-powered Nokia N97. It takes the brand new Symbian Touch interface, and adds in bags more power, as well as a full QWERTY keyboard. Even starting with the looks, it's a truly stunning phone, with sleek surfaces and a minimalist design making the Nokia N97 truly a beautiful sight to behold. However, the impressive nature of the Nokia N97 doesn't end with the exterior, as it's what's inside that really impresses. Equipped with a 5 megapixel camera, it effortlessly switches from phone to camera, letting you leave your separate camera at home. And, of course, with HSDPA data speeds, and WiFi, the Nokia N97 even morphs into a miniature laptop when you need it to. It's quite simply an astounding phone.

HTC Touch Pro2

Whilst the HTC Snap stands somewhat on its own (being a unique email device first, and a smartphone second), the Nokia N97 has a bigger keyboard, and a full touchscreen interface. Is there's a Windows Mobile phone that can beat it? Yes there is: the HTC Touch Pro2. It really is a joy to use, and like an increasing number of modern touchscreen mobile phones, it's optimised for touch controls. Or, in other words, you press the screen on the HTC Touch Pro2 with a finger, not a dibber (well, ok, a stylus, but dibber sounds better, to me). Specs-wise, it's no slouch, either, with 5 megapixel camera, HSDPA, WiFi, built-in GPS and a frankly brilliant slide-out QWERTY keyboard. It truly is a gorgeous mobile phone, and I'll be frank, it's hard to think of any other Windows Mobile phone coming close to it.

Microsoft OneApp promises to bring apps to feature phones

Microsoft released OneApp, a platform for developing and running popular mobile applications on feature phones, phones that can run apps but aren't as capable as smartphones.

A Hands-On Review of the Palm Pre

Author: Simon Drew

The First Reaction to the Palm Pre

The Palm Pre is a device that has been long awaited by gadget freaks all over the world. With the unveiling of the device in this year’s Consumer Electronics Show, the mobile device market has recognized the arrival of a new giant in the industry.

Getting to see the actual device first hand is a little disappointing, the Palm Pre is a humble little touch screen with the classic and all too familiar black finish found in many other smart phones out the in the market. Looks aside, the Palm Pre is actually a very impressive piece of hardware.

The Slide Out Keyboard

The first unique feature that people will notice about the Palm Pre is the full slide out QWERTY keyboard on the bottom of the phone. The dust has yet to settle on the debate on whether the keyboard should have been placed on the bottom on landscape instead of being on the bottom on portrait. This is mostly because wider screens are easier to use and a wide keyboard will provide more ample space for the buttons.

But still, the current keyboard is only plagued with a few minor problems. It is actually a pretty good keyboard that feels good to both touch and use. Each keystroke resounds in a small click that can be felt at the tips of the fingers.

Also, the space between each keyboard button is ample enough to allow users with larger fingers to use the keyboard. Since the phone already has a slide out keyboard, there is no onscreen keyboard. Users might want to hope that a developer creates an onscreen keyboard app instead.

The webOS Interface

Using the Palm Pre webOS is like a dream. At the moment there are no other mobile device operating systems that are quite like it. Instead of using windows, the webOS utilizes cards that are basically separate screens for each of your open applications.

Applications are selected through a small menu on the bottom of the screen allowing you to open its own card. To quit an application, simply turn the card over with a gesture. The application is placed in a save state so that you may resume whatever activity you were originally doing.

This is very easy to learn and convenient operating system. It only takes a few minutes to get used to. In fact, you will spend more time learning to adjust to the touch screen calibration that learning how to use the OS itself.

2012 THE END OF FORCE MULTIPLIER ELECTRONIC WARFARE? by J.E. Ante

Author: Joseph Ante

In December 2012 and possibly many months before the Earth could become bombarded by massive solar flares which will knock out most all satellite electronics and blind the Earth for many years to come until more satellites can be built. But the greatest threat is from the CMEs or coronal mass ejections from the Sun. Solar flares have much less chance of hitting the Earth and their energy is much smaller than a coronal mass ejection. Coronal mass ejections are far more massive and carry much greater energy.

In the late 1800s when the sun was very active the telegraphs of their day were reported to work by themselves without their electric batteries. The crude telegraphs were made out of heavy gauge wires. Our electronics today are extremely fragile and even land based electronics might well be damage extensively from a mega solar flare hitting the Earth or especially a CME or coronal mass ejection.

Mankind will be in the greatest danger in December of 2012. Before this time much of the satellites above the Earth will probably be damaged beyond repair and useless junk in space. But in December the planets align with the Earth and this is when the Sun could send a huge coronal mass ejection aimed directly at the Earth. The shading effect of the planets will be in line with the Earth and a shading effect will funnel any CME directly to Earth.

In December and before most land based electronics might be severely damaged or destroyed by CMEs. If electronics are not turned off and enclosed in metal or aluminum foil to deflect heavy ion radiations then these solid state electronic devices might be overloaded and destroyed. Additional underground shielding might be required to prevent damage to critical electronics. Little research is known about CME damage so this is highly speculative but it is a logical conclusion of CMEs and high energy particles reaching the Earth during peak solar maximums.

This possible massive CME electronic damage will poise a grave risk to all modern armies that depend on electronics as their main force multiplier. If all missiles, airplanes, tanks, trucks, personnel carriers, ships, submarines, and virtually every other major military platform and communications are severely damaged or destroyed then modern armies could be severely compromised for many years to come. Armies need to learn very quickly how to fully protect their most sensitive equipment at least temporarily during peak CME activity of the 24th solar maximum beginning possibly as early as 2010 but much more likely in early 2011.

CMEs take three to five days to reach the Earth. Massive solar flares can take only hours to impact the Earth. But if all upper solar satellites are destroyed then the Earth will have only ground based observatories which is a big disadvantage. So the Earth may have little warning of a major CME event in 2012.

On the bright side all armies will be equally reduced to rubble so to speak. At least their electronics will be equally damaged. Many older tube type radios and TV might not be damaged because they are not the delicate solid state electronics. But armies will not be in any shape to attack anyone because Armies depend on oil to move forward and attack from the air. So war making will be equally reduced somewhat.

Large land based armies like China and Korea will have an advantage in soldiers and small arms which will probably be the only war fighting equipment still viable. Nuclear weapons, chemical and biological weapons' delivery will probably be destroyed. So manual timers would have to be utilized or makeshift electronics that survived the CMEs destruction. And so no long range detonations will be possible. Most all major combat engagements will be eyeball to eyeball so to speak and detonations of major nuclear, chemical, and biological weapons would likely harm both sides of a conflict nearly equally.

2012 will likely end modern warfare for many generations to come if not entirely. Israel will be particularly vulnerable to attack and outnumbered for years to come. Surrounded on all sides by Arabs which have large conventional armies. If Israel doesn't take steps to dramatically reduce electronic damage to planes, tanks, missiles, and communications then Israel will have to stockpile conventional ammunitons because little help will be forthcoming from the USA and little transport of any kind will be available for many years.

Only nuclear weapons used liberally on all surrounding Arab territories and cities for hundreds of miles could save Israel from massive conventional attacks from Arabs. Since Arabs have largely conventional Armies and weapons they can simply walk into Israel areas of combat to engage the enemy. And without the electronic multiplier of weapons Israelis will be greatly outnumbered. But they will have the advantage of the defender and they will be fighting for their lives because they will be surrounded. Of the two adversaries I would have to go with Israel as the probable winner in this possible war of the future. But it would be only by the use of all of their nuclear weapons in a kind of scorched Earth policy upon all the surrounding Arab lands and cities closest to Israel. Hopefully they will have enough nuclear weapons. But if not there will be only escape from the sea to a world which will be little prepared to receive them and not much better off than them.

I doubt that major wars after 2012 will be motivated by ethnic or religious bigotry and hatred. The main wars will be over oil, water, minerals, and croplands for basic survival needs. The world will have to revert to a vegetarian lifestyle for many decades because grains will be needed to feed people instead of animals. The only animal husbandry would be open range cattle and sheep livestock which can make use of marginal grazing lands.

The West has relied on electronic warfare as its major force multiplier but it has million of potential recruits from fairly large populations to drawn from for increasing conventional armies. But large armies may be a thing of the past after December 2012 or before. America is somewhat isolated from any potential enemies. Only Mexico's lawlessness and poverty might be a major concern after 2012.

Most ethic and religious differences and resource wars would occur in Asia and Africa. Australia would be a save haven because of its great distance from any possible enemy or attack but they might be deluged with boat people trying to sail to their country for a safe haven. The lack of oil and energy to move armies being Australia's biggest protection. Lack of water resources might be Australia's biggest weakness in this time of predicted great droughts.

It seems prudent to research extensively now in 2009 the damage that might be caused by 2012 massive CME events and prepare adequate countermeasures to protect those electronic assets. But few people take these events seriously to their great future peril. Hopefully I am wrong and they will not occur or they will not be as severe as expected. It really does not take that much energy and material to enclose electronics in metals or isolate them at the times of maximum solar CMEs.

2012 is mentioned in over a dozen major traditions as an end of an age. And this is the end of a 25,800 year cycle where we intersect the galactic equator from 1980 to 2016. This is a time of increased light energy from the galactic center of our galaxy which acts like a laser of concentrated light energy and is heating up our planet and the Sun slightly. And this increased heat will continue building up like an oven and remain with us for many years. Seaports will need to be moved far inland for protection from massive hurricanes and populations will shift dramatically.

I see electronic warfare ending for good on this planet one way or another after 2012 as mankind shifts major resources into just surviving the next year with enough food, energy, and water. Little energy and resources will be available to make war. And all of mankind will be given a second chance to get it right and live in harmony with Nature instead of conquering nature. Pollution will be gone almost overnight when the lights go out. And these massive CMEs that I call the "Hand of God" will give mankind a second chance and additional time to correct the unwise course of many technologies which harms the Earth. -- J.E. Ante

Which is better - QWERTY phones, or keyboard-less phones?

Author: Matt Sharp

It's a debate that rages in the world of smartphones: which is best, a phone with a QWERTY keyboard, or one without a keyboard at all? Let's take a look.

Keyboard - Nokia N97 and HTC Touch Pro2

After the triumphant launch of the Nokia 5800, which was only ever meant to be a mid-range phone, Nokia need a new top-ender to really wow the public.

Whilst the HTC Hero (see later) stands somewhat on its own, the HTC Touch Pro2 brings Windows Mobile to the party, and it really is a joy to use, and like an increasing number of modern touchscreen mobile phones, it's optimised for touch controls.

No keyboard - HTC Hero and Toshiba TG01

Android is trying to take over the world, and its new home is the beautiful HTC Hero. It has all the good stuff that made the first Android phone (the G1) good, but puts it all in a touchscreen-only body, which is both sleek and sexy. Since the keyboard has been removed, the HTC Hero also has a full, onscreen keyboard, and a sumptuous new interface called Sense. You also get the Android Marketplace, which lets you download and install third party apps to your HTC Hero, and it ends up creating a smartphone that really can morph into whatever you want it to be. It really is a true Hero; it's the HTC Hero.

So, the HTC Hero is the open source contender. And the HTC Touch Pro2 has the nicest keyboard. But finally, there's a phone that really gives Windows Mobile the grunt it needs to run properly: the Toshiba TG01. In terms of outstanding new technologies, what the Toshiba TG01 brings to the party isn't the 4.1 inch display (although that's noteworthy in itself), but what's inside it. The Toshiba TG01 uses a next-gen, dual-core Snapdragon processor, which runs at 1GHz, and that means the Toshiba TG01 is the most powerful phone in existence... which is good, because in terms of other features, a lot of other phones leave the Toshiba TG01 in the dust. So, which is better? Well, for data entry, you cannot beat a QWERTY keyboard. But for sheer looks, a phone without a keyboard is the way to go.

Windows Mobile - the most powerful phone OS on the market?

Author: Matt Sharp

Windows Mobile has been on the scene for a long time, and it is ever evolving. Let's take a look at some new phones that redefine how powerful Windows Mobile is.

Touchscreen-only - HTC Diamond2 and Toshiba TG01

The HTC Touch Diamond2 actually does a very good job of making it so you don't have to go into standard Windows menus that often, as on top of the operating system, the interface is HTC's patented TouchFLO 3D setup, where everything is achieved through various finger swipes and sweeping gestures. It is truly intuitive, and it's the reason why the HTC Touch Diamond2 is such an unmitigated joy to use. Of course, it's not all about being pretty, a phone needs to have decent features and the HTC Touch Diamond2 has them in spades, from the 5 megapixel camera, through GPS, to incredibly fast HSDPA internet access (not to mention the superb Opera Mobile web browser). To many, the HTC Touch Diamond2 is the ultimate Windows Mobile phone.

Windows Mobile phones have had a tendency, in the past, to be a bit clunky. The interface wasn't the best, and that ruined all that power they had. But now, we have to face facts; the Toshiba TG01, the most powerful mobile phone EVER made. That's not an exaggeration, the Toshiba TG01 is the first phone in history to have a 1GHz processor, taking its performance way beyond any mobile phones before, into laptop territory. Combine that with a unique 3D interface on top, and at 4.1 inches, the biggest screen of any mobile phone, and the Toshiba TG01 is all set to take its rightful place as the most powerful and best Windows phone that's ever been released.

QWERTY keyboards - HTC Snap and HTC Touch Pro2

One thing Windows Mobile phones have always been good at is email, and the HTC Snap may well be one of the best email phones to feature that PC-esque operating system. Key to the email smarts of the HTC Snap is a feature called Inner Circle. You simply tell your phone who the important people are in your contacts, and the HTC Snap automatically prioritises their emails above everyone else's. Put simply, if you often find you have a hectic inbox, the HTC Snap, which also has a full QWERTY keyboard, may well be the perfect email phone for you!

Whilst the HTC Snap stands somewhat on its own (being a unique email device first, and a smartphone second), the Diamond2 is outdone by a close sibling of it. The HTC Touch Pro2 carries on AND SURPASSES the brilliance of the HTC Touch Diamond2; it really is a joy to use, and like an increasing number of modern touchscreen mobile phones, it's optimised for touch controls.

Smartphone OSes - Which Makes For The Best Smartphone?

Author: Matt Sharp

On a modern smartphone, the operating system it runs is half the battle in making a great phone. Let's check out three of the best smartphones OSes on the market.

HTC Hero

Samsung i8910 HD

Next, there's the Symbian contender, the Samsung i8910 HD, and it has one big advantage over the TG01. Whilst it has an 8 megapixel camera, the Samsung i8910 HD is also the first phone to record true 720p HD video. Never before has a phone been able to capture video at that massive high resolution, and coincidentally (or is it coincidence? Maybe not...), the Samsung i8910 HD captures high-def video at the exact quality that Youtube display high-def videos at. It's very possible that the Samsung i8910 HD was designed with its main feature being the ability to get yourself on Youtube, in high-definition. Combine that with the sumptuous 3.7 inch screen, and a huge 8Gb of internal memory, and it's very clear that the Samsung i8910 HD is the one to go for if you want the best camera phone.

Toshiba TG01

So, the HTC Hero is the open source contender. And the Samsung i8910 HD is the only one with HD video recording. And so, what's the winner on this list? Because of the camera, and the sheer sexiness of it, I'd have to say the Samsung i8910 HD.

8 Megapixels And A Touchscreen - The Best Camera Phones In Existence

Author: Matt Sharp

Eight megapixel phones currently sit at the top of the pile in terms of camera phones, and the best of the best are the ones that also include a touchscreen. Let's check out three of the coolest on the market.

LG Viewty Smart

The first Viewty was one of the most successful phones LG have ever made, and now, the true successor to the name has arrived in the shape of the LG Viewty Smart. Featuring the new touch-based S-Class UI, the LG Viewty Smart is an incredible phone to use, with slick animations and smooth transitions between screens and menus. As well as the 8MP camera in the LG Viewty Smart, you also get a stunning multimedia player, and super-fast internet access, making the LG Viewty Smart one of the coolest camera phones out there.

Samsung Tocco Ultra

What would happen if you took an awesome camera, and a sumptuous interface, but gave it a slide-out keyboard, and unbelievably, made it thinner than its predecessors? You'd get the gorgeous Samsung Tocco Ultra, one of the prettiest phones Samsung have ever made. It really is quite astounding that, despite being thinner than the Pixon, the Samsung Tocco Ultra manages to squeeze in that beautiful keyboard. If amazing looks (with superb features) are what you seek from a phone, then the Samsung Tocco Ultra is perfect for you.

Samsung i8910 HD

The LG Viewty Smart is undoubtedly going to be a superb touch phone for those on more of a budget, and the Samsung Tocco Ultra takes the crown for being the most fashion-conscious. But there's another phone that can top them, as it is a true smartphone, as well: the Samsung i8910 HD. Whilst it has an 8 megapixel camera, the Samsung i8910 HD's real party piece is that it is also the first phone to record true 720p HD video.

Modern mobile phones - they don't NEED keyboards!

Author: Matt Sharp

Keyboards on phones are a thing of the past. Let's check out three phones that do away with a keyboard, to let u interact directly with the screen.

HTC Touch Diamond2

Samsung i8910 HD

Representing Symbian, there's the Samsung i8910 HD, and it has one big advantage over the Touch Diamond2.

HTC Hero

So, there's the HTC Touch Diamond2, which relies on masses of raw power to give you an exceptional experience. And then, there's the Samsung i8910 HD, which wows you with its Symbian OS and its HD video recording. However, there's an open source alternative to those two. It really is a kind of Hero; it's the HTC Hero.

10 steps on how to succeed making Money on Domain Names

10 steps on how to succeed making Money on Domain Names

One of the most spoken deals in domain reselling was the sales of www.cellphones.com was sold for USD$4.2 million in cash. The original owner paid USD$90 for the name in 1996

“The secret has to do with what’s known as type-in traffic, or, in Wall Street jargon, direct navigation. Though it may seem odd in the era of powerful search engines, it turns out that millions of Internet surfers don’t use search at all. Instead, they type what they’re looking for right into the top of their Web browser.

Looking to buy candy? Type in Candy.com, a name Rick Schwartz bought in May 2002 for USD$108,000. A page filled with links to candy-related products comes up. Click on one of the ads and the advertiser pays Google, which in turn sends a share to Schwartz and the company that runs Candy.com. Some days Candy.com makes Schwartz USD$300 in profits; the site paid for itself in a year and a half. “ - via Business 2.0 CNN Money

Just to let you in on some trends in todays domain sales market is a top 10 overview from 2009 made by Domain Names News online services.

Toys.com sold for 5,100,000 USD, bankruptcy auction

Candy.com was sold for 3,000,000 USD, PVT sale

Fly.com was sold for 1,760 ,000 USD, Sedo

Auction.com was sold for 1,700,000 USD, Pvt Sale

Webcam.com was sold for 1,020,000 USD, RickLatona.com

Server.com was sold for 770,000 USD, Sedo

Talk.com was sold for 500,000 USD, Sedo

Top.com was sold for 357,500 Euro, Sedo

Body.com was sold for 400,000 USD, Sedo

Forums.com was sold for 399,999 USD, Sedo

Domain speculation is one of those online money making activities you can try for fun, but the risk is high, and success rate is relatively low, so don’t expect to quit your day job anytime soon.

In case you want to try your hand at this, here are a few quick tips.

1. Do the research:

You will want to get a feel of what’s selling on the market and for how much. Check out prominent domain resale and discussion sites such as DomainState & Namepros for a start. I found this this forum thread on Namepros to be particularly useful as it serves as a compilation of names members have actually sold, with their respective amounts.

2. Pick the name:

When deciding on the name you want to pick keep in mind these tips:

  1. Keep the name short and simple. Use as few words as possible
  2. Do not use separators in the domain name
  3. Buy the generic product category names
  4. Buy a .com whenever possible
  5. Don̢۪t infringe another company̢۪s trademarks

For more details you may want to read www.friedbeef.com/2006/10/21/8-critical-considerations-for-picking-business-domain-names/ on Critical Considerations for Picking Business Domain Names.

Another way to determine how popular your domain name might be, would be to check Overture’s free keyword suggestion tool - which tracks how popular a search term is, or Google’s own search results to see if your domain contains a highly indexed (and probably highly demanded) keyword.

3. Go Hunting:

Most registrars offer some form of a domain hunting tool to let you know if your desired domain is available. Some even provide suggestions for you if they are not. My favourite however is still Instant Domain Search which checks domain availability - as you type. They’ve even come up with a widget which I have embedded in this post so you can search for domains right from this page. (RSS/email subscribers - please click through if you have trouble viewing the widget in this post.)

4. Pick a registrar

  • Picking who to buy from isn’t always about who’s the cheapest.
  • Good support, to answer any questions you may have
  • Ease of transfer is important to avoid any delays when reselling the domain
  • Track record is important. Search the web to see what people are saying about them. Sites like WebHostingTalk and BestHostRatings offer reviews as well. If they don’t have good support for hosting, they probably won’t have good support on domains either.

Oh yes, avoid iPowerWeb like the plague. My short experience with them was nothing less than horrible.

5. Find discounts

Coupon Codes are codes that enable you to receive discounts, and a great way to purchase domains without having to pay full price.

Check out domain related forums, and members will sometimes disclose coupon codes to help the community in general. GoDaddy.com for example, publishes coupon codes openly on podcasts. If you plan to use GoDaddy.com you can type in Chris1, Chris2, Chris3, or Digg in the coupon code section to enjoy great discounts.

Let me state once again that domain speculation is one of those online money making activities you can try for fun, but the risk is high, and success rate is relatively low, so don’t expect to quit your day job anytime soon.

6. Decide on a price

Just like most other online sales - there is no real market price for your domains. Everything runs on the most basic ‘willing buyer, willing seller’ premise. Of course if you feel your domain names are sought after, you can hold out for better prices.

To help you decide on a price, you can use:

  • Past sales - Take a look what people are selling their domains for.
  • Free Appraisals - Take a free appraisal. This may not be terribly reliable, but would at least give you a rough indication of what to expect. Try Leapfish as an example.
  • Professional Appraisals - Some sites offer professional consultation, which is more expensive, but important when dealing with big money names. Try Sedo for professional help.

7. Park or Develop

What do you do with the site while waiting for a buyer? You can either put some content up, or simply park it. Parking your domain will create an instant page of advertising listing where are generated based on the domain name. For example, a shampoo related domain name would have shampoo ads on it.

Domain Parking accomplishes 2 things. It lets you:

  1. Earn some minor income on the side while waiting to resell your name
  2. Gauge whether you should even sell it in the first place! Some names are popular enough that they pay for themselves via advertising (when people click on the ads).

8. Advertise

Let the world know you are selling your domain. Try posting your list on domain forums like Namepros, domain reselling specialists like Sedo, or even eBay. When describing the domain, create a compelling argument as to why it is worth the money you’re asking for. For example, is it a popular search term? Is it short but memorable name? Is the name useful for commercial purposes?

9. Negotiate the deal

Here’s where your research you did earlier gives you an idea of what type of prices to hold out for. Here’s a tip. Don’t wait until your domain expiry is approaching before starting to lower your prices. It puts you in a desperate position if you don’t plan to renew it.

10. Sell Sell Sell

Wherever possible, ask for good contract with payment terms first before transferring. Try using an escrow service such as Sedo or Escrow if it makes both parties more comfortable. The commission may be a bit high, but it may be worth the peace of mind especially with pricey domain names.

And there you go… 10 steps which should walk you through the whole selection, buying, and selling process. What other tips do you have?

We are more than happy to help you define a strategy for how to sell your domain, and even make sure you will achieve best price for your domain. We know how to market domains, and we certainly know how to make your domain more attractive to the potential investors.

Write us at sak@ec-ba.com and we will be more than happy to discuss your sales plans. We do content management and web design, so if you need any assistance in this area as well, we are more than glad to assist you there. We work on a no cure - no pay strategy, so there are no risks involved for you. Best regards Stig-Arne Kristoffersen EC-BA W.L.L

The Best Keyboard-Less Mobile Phones In The World!

Author: Matt Sharp

Let's take a look at three of the best phones that foregone a keyboard entirely, to let you interact directly with the touchscreen.

Toshiba TG01

There's little doubt that Windows Mobile is one of the big operating systems in the world. However, to get the best out of it, you really need a phone with a fast processor, a big screen, and a custom user interface on top, not unlike the Sony Ericsson X1 or HTC's range of handset. Well now, there's a new kid in town, called the Toshiba TG01, and it fulfils all three of those criteria. Not only that, but as well as the custom interface, it has the biggest screen of any mobile phone, and the fastest processor, coming in at 4.1 inches, and 1GHz, respectively.

Samsung i8910 HD

Whilst it has an 8 megapixel camera, the Samsung i8910 HD's real party piece is that it is also the first phone to record true 720p HD video. Never before has a phone been able to capture video at that massive high resolution, and coincidentally (or is it coincidence? Android Vs Windows Mobile Vs WebOS - the OS Showdown Of The Century

Author: Matt Sharp

Operating systems are the big thing in 2009, with many battling for the top spot. Let's take a look at three of the best: Android, Windows Mobile and the new boy, WebOS.

HTC Hero

The HTC Hero is comparable to the iPhone, sharing a similar keyboard-less design. Again, it's with the software that the HTC Hero shines, with Android living up to the title some have given it, that of 'game changer'. Its completely open source nature makes adapting the OS very easy, and the interface itself is once again a finger-friendly, sleek, and polished affair, with gesture controls the order of the day. The tight integration of the full Google suite (including Apps and Gmail), makes it a real force to be reckoned with, and it has to be said that the HTC Hero is a truly stunning phone.

Toshiba TG01

Next up is a phone that really gives Windows Mobile the grunt it needs to run properly: the Toshiba TG01. In terms of outstanding new technologies, what the Toshiba TG01 brings to the party isn't the 4.1 inch display (although that's noteworthy in itself), but what's inside it. The Toshiba TG01 uses a next-gen, dual-core Snapdragon processor, which runs at 1GHz, and that means the Toshiba TG01 is the most powerful phone in existence... which is good, because in terms of other features, a lot of other phones leave the Toshiba TG01 in the dust...

Palm Pre

So, the HTC Hero is the open source contender. And the Toshiba TG01 is the only one with a super-fast 1GHz processor. What does the Palm Pre offer that's different? Well, one could talk about the WebOS interface it uses, as it's unique in the annals of phone history. And indeed, there's one feature of WebOS, directly related to the keyboard, that makes the Palm Pre so cool. Universal search. Now, many phones do that, but the Palm Pre does it so much more cleverly. Just start typing what you want to know about, from the front screen, and the Palm Pre will search your contacts, apps, music, pictures, and even the internet, to interpret and find what you're looking for. That really is a cool feature, and it may well make the Palm Pre the coolest QWERTY phone out there.

QWERTY phones - the future of mobile messaging

Author: Matt Sharp

For messaging and email, a QWERTY keyboard has become one of the most essential features of the modern mobile phone. Let's take a look at 3 of the best QWERTY phones available.

HTC Snap

Anyone who's used Windows Mobile before will know it's exceptionally good at emails and info management, and the HTC Snap is no exception to that rule. You get the same excellent POP3 and Exchange Server (for your corporate emails) support, but the HTC Snap also includes something new: Inner Circle. This is a new feature for the HTC Snap, that lets you set an Inner Circle of friends or important people, and automatically prioritises emails from them, to make sure you get the emails that matter the most, first.

HTC Touch Pro2

The HTC Touch Pro2 carries on the groundwork laid down by the Diamond2; it really is a joy to use, and like an increasing number of modern touchscreen mobile phones, it's optimised for touch controls.

Palm Pre

So, there's the HTC Touch Pro2, which takes Windows Mobile to new heights. And then, there's the HTC Snap, which adds Inner Circle email functionality into the mix. If you value the interface above all else, the Palm Pre is the phone for you.

THE SCIENCE OF 2012 : The Science of Light

Author: Joseph Ante

Over a dozen major prophetic traditions of Earth warn of an end of an Age in December 2012. And yet few people of Earth heed this warning. But there is science in these prophecies -- the science of light.

The Planet Earth rotates around in a 25,800 year cycle. Between 1980 and 2016 that cycle and astrological progression brings us through a very thin area of space that intersects with the plane of our own galaxy our galactic equator. When our solar system intersects this thin plane of light energy from the center of the Milky Way it heats up slightly and changes energizes the Sun and all of the planets as well. This is the time of great changes and renewal and cleansing of the Earth -- a kind of fever to burn off the disease of a planet.

Milky Way galaxy is like a giant pancake light bulb that sends out light energy in 360 degree like a regular light bulb. But our galaxy is a thin pancake flat bulb so every star in it is aligned in a flat plane or spiral as it spins around itself. This thin plane called the galactic equator of our Milky Way galaxy is now intersecting with the path of our solar system and the Earth. At this time the photons of the millions of stars of the Milky Way galaxy are aligned similar to a laser beam and focused on our solar system and the Sun. And tremendous light energy from the galactic center will re-energizes the sun and planets ever so slightly.

The greatest threat to Earth comes when the planets also align in December 2012. Then the light energy and the shading effect of the planets and the Sun will cause the sun to send out great solar flares towards the Earth which can do great harm to the technology of mankind upon which we depend.

Massive solar flares may knock out most all electrical and communications for many years to come and the Earth will be knocked back into a 1900 century existence. All of these advanced devices may take many years to duplicate and repair. The Earth will continue to heat up slightly over many years until 2018. There will be ever increasing droughts, crops will fail, and billions of people may die from starvation and civil strive if they are not prepared or do not receive help to survive. It takes many years to heat the Earth just like an oven with a large mass takes longer to heat. But the later years are the hottest before the heated of Earth will recede in temperature.

How bad it will be no one can say. But there are always many things people can do to prepare and live more in harmony with nature right now. This may be a time of great wars as nations fight over water, food, shelter, and natural resources. But there is much we know about living in drought conditions and water conservation which can greatly help if this knowledge is shared widely now and applied to the times to come.

The western nations will be hardest hit by the 19th century living standards of no electricity and modern communications. (Hopefully the fiber optic internet will eventually be restored and survive.) Many countries of the world currently have 1900 century living standards so they will be much less harmed by a sudden loss of modern electricity and communications for many years to come. But many of these same people will starve because they are dependent on American grains for food.

Most of the pollution of the world will be gone almost overnight. But we must prepare vigorously to shut down nuclear reactors which require continuous electricity to prevent a meltdown of their nuclear cores. This will be our greatest challenge in 2012 -- to keep from doing greater environmental harm when these nuclear reactors can no longer function without electricity and keep their reactors cool. We must keep these nuclear reactors from exploding and contaminating the world for many generations to come.

We may all become organic farmers at this time if we want to eat and survive. We will all vigorously conserve water for drinking and growing crops. We will have to severely limit travel and the use of gasoline, natural gas, and oil for fuel. And life will be much changed for the better from an environmental standpoint. Great change will be rapidly forced upon humanity to conserve, protect, and live in harmony with nature. And many animals and plants in nature will have to be saved from extinction by mankind if they are to survive.

There is a Tibetan prophecy attributed to the King of Agartha the Inner Earth kingdom of about 800,000 million people. He states that world wars will begin again in 2011 and last for 18 years. At the end of this time of war the world will be much changed. And at that time the King of Agartha will come out of the Inner Earth to conquer and to help all those that remain.

We all seem to be living in interesting times. But with so many bored and spiritually lost people in the world maybe that is a good thing.-- J.E. Ante

Another Nokia Touch Phone, the 5530 XpressMusic

Author: Simon Drew

Churning Out a Big One

If you are not familiar with the various Nokia models, that is perfectly understandable. With the number of mobile phones Nokia produces each year, it’s a wonder they have not run out of numbers. The Nokia 5530 XpressMusic is a touch screen mobile phone that specializes in music playback above all other features. While the phone itself is a decent model, you have to wonder why Nokia made this phone instead of something that has a broader range of functional purposes. Critics would agree that this might just end up as another forgotten phone a few months from now.

Not Half Bad

While it does border on the generic side with its simplistic design and lackluster features, the 5530 XpressMusic is not a bad mobile phone at all. There are decent interface features that allow users to easily access contacts and functions. It also has WiFi connectivity for accessing the internet; now becoming a standard for most mobile devices. The 3.2 mega pixel camera does a fairly good job at taking photos and video. You can also easily access these files for viewing and uploading. Learning to use this phone is easy, turn it on and the rest is intuitive. You can easily grasp how to use this phone in a mere matter of minutes.

As a music player, this phone has a battery that will last for over a day of playback (more than enough for almost everyone). It can also support up to 16GB SD cards, which means your music library will be pretty big. You can also view videos on the wide screen in full view, but the resolution is slightly lower than most phones so do not expect the same quality for viewing videos. Also you are limited to 3GP and MP4 file formats. Not really the best files available, but they are the standards for portable devices.

Battery of Life

One nice feature about the Nokia 5530 XpressMusic is its battery life. You can get some serious amount of talk time with this phone on a full charge. Music playback will also last you for more than a whole day and video playback reach almost up to four hours, more than enough to watch the extended cut of a really long movie. Charging this phone is easy too. Give it an hour and you will be ready to go with a full charge. One good thing about Nokia models is that they are almost universally compatible with any Nokia charger and almost all are fast chargers too. Getting a spare battery is easy as well and would be a sound investment for those who spend long periods on the road.

Operating Systems - Symbian Vs Windows Mobile Vs WebOS

Author: Matt Sharp

Let's take a look at three of the newest or upcoming smartphones, to see which can win in the battle between Windows Mobile, Symbian and the newcomer, WebOS.

HTC Touch Diamond2

Samsung i8910 HD

Sitting right at the top of Samsung's product range, there's the awesome Samsung i8910 HD. It doesn't just have the looks. It doesn't just have an 8MP camera. The Samsung i8910 HD is a true smartphone, using the powerful Symbian OS. On top of that, though, it has a 3D version of the TouchWiz UI, making it simply incredible to use. And finally, there's the Samsung i8910 HD's party piece: its camera doesn't just take phenomenal photos; you see, the Samsung i8910 HD is also the first phone in history to record true HD video. It really is as powerful as phones come, and if you want an uncompromising smartphone, with just about every bell and whistle imaginable, you need the Samsung i8910 HD.

Palm Pre

So, there's the HTC Touch Diamond2, which takes Windows Mobile to new heights. And then, there's the Samsung i8910 HD, which wows you with its Symbian OS and its HD video recording. If you value the interface above all else, the Palm Pre is the phone for you.

Spy phones, what they are and how they can help you

Author: Fabiol

For many, spy phones can look like gadgets out of spy-movies such as 007 stories, some hi-tech tools far from the world (and the financial means) of the common man. Actually, besides being interesting, useful and even fun to use, spy cellphones are now affordable for almost everyone, and user-friendly enough that even the less savvy user can easily cope with them. In short, surveillance and investigation is brought to everyone thanks to a spy mobile phone.

How does a Spy Phone work?

Basically, a spy cellphone is a normal cellphone, on which an invisible piece of software is installed, which carries out three main functions. First of all, it can send a copy of all SMS messages, both coming from and going to the phone surveillance, forwarding them to a secret preset number.

In the same fashion, it can do the same with phone calls, transferring any incoming or outgoing conversation towards the same preset number; in order to do this, when the phone is engaged in a conversation, both incoming and outgoing, you will receive an SMS notification, showing also the third party’s phone number, and you will just have to call the spy phone if you want to listen in without being noticed.

Last but not least, the spy mobile phone can work as a listening device, enabling you to listen to any conversations taking place around it, even while the phone is switched off; in order to achieve this, you can call it at any time, and its hidden software will allow you listen in, without ringing or giving out any sign. Of course, all these things happen without giving out any sign of activity, which might expose your surveillance operation.

When to use Spy Phones?

For example, if you suspect that your spouse might be cheating on you, because you notice an increasingly weird behavior, but are unable to prove that something is really wrong, you do not need to hire a private detective, and act directly with the aid of a spy cellphone. On top of allowing you to discreetly listen to your spouse’s conversations, it will also save you from having to share your innermost secrets and fears with a third party.

If you are a manager, and start doubting the integrity of your closest staff members, those with access to the most confidential information, and might be tempted to pass it or sell it to your fiercest competitors, you need to make sure that your trust is well placed. Thanks to a spy mobile, you can check whether your employees are actually on your side or they are playing on two tables; in fact, you can monitor their phone calls, their SMS, and thanks to the GPS function available on some models, you will also be able to know their whereabouts at any time.

Furthermore, a Spy Phone can also be used as an environmental bug, or listening device. If you want to find out what others say about you, you can just fake a cigarette or bio break, leave your spy cellphone into a room where an important meeting is being held, secretly call the spy phone and listen to what is being said around it. Naturally, these are just a few examples of how to use the different capabilities of your spy cellular phone, but actually there are hundreds of ways to put its might to work for you. Depending on the model of phone being used, Spy Phone can have different features and characteristics.
