The World of Touch Phones - Nokia 5800 and Nokia N97

Author: Matt Sharp

Never before has history seen such a wealth of touchscreen phones been seen, with every manufacturer offering at least one. Finnish giant, Nokia, though are offering two: the brilliant 5800, and the absolutely mind-blowing Nokia N97.

Nokia 5800 - exorcising the demons of the past

A lot of people seem to be under the false impression that the Nokia 5800 is the first ever touchscreen mobile phone to come from the Finnish manufacturer. It isn't. The opposite's true, because there's been a few touchy-feely phones to wear the Nokia brand. Starting at the 7700, the world has seen a couple of Nokia mobile phones that work by you pressing directly on the screen. They had a relatively big (for the time) touchscreen in common, but the other feature they had in common, unfortunately, was that they were irredeemably awful. However, those unpleasant recollections have all been exorcised because of the debut of two new Nokia mobile phones, both of which have touch-sensitive displays, and both of which are much, much more alluring...

First on the roster is a whole new member of Nokia's Xpress range of music mobile phones, the mouth-watering Nokia 5800. This phone is pretty obviously designed for music and video; you can tell by the dedicated XpressMedia touch-key that pops up a list of links to music, videos, the web, and more. Oh, and the Nokia 5800 has a 3.2 inch touch-sensitive display, to actually play with all your media content. Essentially, the Nokia 5800 was designed as a teeny portable entertainment centre, and as music devices go, this is easily one of the prettiest. The Nokia 5800 has also got a 3 megapixel camera, HSDPA data access and GPS, so that it's a superb all-round mobile phone, as well as a superb media box. Oh, and it's got a lanyard to clip on an imitation guitar pick. That's pretty cool, that.

However, the Nokia 5800 is very definitely a mid-range phone; it isn't, nor was it ever meant to be, an absolute top-ender. That job goes to a different mobile...

Nokia N97 - can any phone beat this monster?

With the Nokia 5800 on track to deliver touch-based mobile phones to the mid-range market, that leaves a massive gap at the very top-endof the product range; well, there IS a touch-based mobile phone on its way to fill that gap: the frankly mind-blowing Nokia N97. This uses the same Symbian S60 Touch interface and packs it inside the shell of a proper, full-tilt smartphone. So it has a massive, 3.5 inch screen, a flip out QWERTY keypad, and the camera's been upgraded to 5 megapixels. The Nokia N97 is, as should be glaringly obvious, destined to be the new flagship Nseries mobile phone, and it's truly as high-spec as we'd heard from rumours, with HSDPA, sat-nav, digital compass, and built-in Flash, so that you have an internet experience like no other mobile phones! Put simply the Nokia N97 is simple incredible. It gleefully relieves itself over other mobile phones and while the 5800 aims to take over the mid-range, I reckon that the Nokia N97 will completely DOMINATE the world in 2009!

Qwerty Kick-down - Sony Ericsson X1 Vs Nokia N97

Author: Matt Sharp

In the world of smartphones, Sony Ericsson and Nokia have traditionally been the grand masters. Well, now, its time to see how their touchscreen, QWERTY smartphones fair, now, as the Sony Ericsson X1 takes on the Nokia N97.

Sony Ericsson X1 - Windows goes user-friendly...

At the Mobile World Congress in 2008, Sony Ericsson shocked everyone by announcing their first ever Windows Mobile phone. Not only that, but it would be included in a brand new product range, the Xperia series. It is, of course, the Sony Ericsson X1, and since then, it's gone on to prove itself as one of the most capable smartphones ever released. Key to that is the fact that it takes Windows Mobile and makes it not only usable, but user-friendly, with a brilliant Panels Interface ironing out Windows' inherent quirks.

It's powerful, too, with HSDPA, WiFi, built-in GPS and a 3 megapixel camera that just about looks as sharp as other manufacturers' 5MP phones! Not only that, but the X1 packs this high technology into a devilishly sexy body, clad in premium metal, with a wonderful, smooth slide-out keyboard, meaning that it is truly as useful as it is beautiful (i.e. VERY).

Nokia N97 - the single best phone EVER made?

However, the Sony Ericsson X1, although brilliant, isn't the most powerful QWERTY phone out there; there IS a touchscreen mobile phone that can beat it as the top-end powerhouse: the utterly mind-blowing Nokia N97. This takes the brilliant Symbian S60 Touch interface and packages it inside the frame of a proper, full-on smartphone. So it has a bigger, 3.5 inch screen, a slide out QWERTY keyboard, and the camera now weighs in at a meaty 5 megapixels.

The Nokia N97 is, in a very definite way, destined to be the new flagship Nseries mobile phone, and it's genuinely as powerful as the rumours said, with HSDPA, GPS, digital compass, and built-in Flash, so that you get an internet experience that tops any other mobile phones, and that the Sony Ericsson just can't match out of the box! Put it like this: the Nokia N97 is simple incredible. It gleefully relieves itself over other mobile phones and as good as the Sony Ericsson X1 is, I reckon that the Nokia N97 will totally DESTROY all competition this year!

Nokia 5800 - Iphone Beware!

Author: Matt Sharp

2008 saw the rise of the touchscreen phone, with many manufacturers kicked into high gear by the release of the iPhone. However, 2009 is due to be the year that touchscreen mobile phones take over and the first candidate for world domination is the stunning Nokia 5800.

Nokia 5800 - music meets touch

The first candidate for touchscreen domination is a whole new entrant into Nokia's Xpress range of music mobile phones, the gorgeous Nokia 5800. This phone is quite obviously made for music and media, as it has a dedicated XpressMusic button that pops up a list of links to music, videos, the internet, and more. Oh, and the Nokia 5800 has a 3.2 inch touch-sensitive display, to actually use all your media content.

Essentially, the Nokia 5800 was designed as a little handheld jukebox and movie player, and as music handsets go, this is easily one of the sweetest. The Nokia 5800 has also got a 3 megapixel camera, HSDPA data connection and sat-nav, making it a brilliant all-round mobile phone, as well as a wonderful media player. Oh, and it's got a strap to fasten on an imitation guitar pick. That's pretty cool, that.

Nokia aim for world domination

Whilst it's very clear that the 5800 isn't Nokia's top-spec entrant into the touchscreen battle (that honour will fall to the Nokia N97, later in the year), it's equally clear that is one seriously sexy and eminently capable little mobile phone. The sound quality of the Nokia 5800, whether it be the sound of music pumping through the stereo headphones, or sound of a call, is always above par, and it must rank as one the best-sounding mobile phones of recent times. Of course, its capabilities go far beyond music; the internet browser is superb, the video playback is superb, the camera (which at 3 megapixels is impressive for a mid-range phone) is superb, and the experience of using all those features, thanks to the beautifully smooth touchscreen and the slick S60 Touch interface, is, yes, superb. The Nokia 5800 heartily deserves all the attention that's been heaped upon it, and is Nokia are determined to rule the world... well, they're off to a good start with the 5800!

Famous Inventions That Have Shaped our History and Impacted our Lives

Author: William Lund

Barbed Wire

Barbed wire, a simple tool, reshaped Life in the American West by allowing ranchers to tame the land. The new fencing simplified the work of the rancher and farmer, and significantly affected political, social, and economic practices throughout the west.

Before the famous invention of barbed wire, the lack of effective fencing limited the range of farming the number of settlers in an area. With little or no wood and no rocks there wasn’t any way to fence off your land.

Wire fences used before the invention of the barb consisted of only one strand of wire, which was often broken by the weight of cattle pushing against it. Michael Kelly made a significant improvement to wire fencing with an invention that "twisted two wires together to form a cable for barbs - the first of its kind. Kelly's double-strand design made the fence stronger, and the painful barbs taught cattle to keep their distance.

The widespread use of barbed wire changed life on the Great Plains dramatically and permanently. The lives of Native Americans were radically altered they began calling barbed wire "the Devil's rope." Fenced-off land meant that more and more cattle herders were dependent on the dwindling overgrazed public lands. The harsh winter of 1886, and a big January 1887 blizzard, wreaked further havoc on the cattle market. Large-scale, open-range cattle enterprises effectively disappeared.

Barbed wire has survived the passage of time being used everywhere from farm land to prisons and even in battle fields. Barbed wire, a simple famous invention, truly tamed the West.

The microwave oven

It was during a radar-related research project around 1946 that Dr. Percy Spencer, while working for Raytheon Corporation, noticed that a candy bar in his pocket melted during the testing of a new vacuum tube called a magnetron. This intrigued Dr. Spencer, so he tried another experiment, this time he placing some popcorn kernels near the tube and, watched as the popcorn sputtered, cracked and popped.

The next morning Spencer decided to put the magnetron tube near an egg. Spencer and a colleague both watched as the egg began to tremor and shake. Spencer’s colleague moved in for a closer look just as the egg splattered yolk all over his face. Dr. Spencer concluded that if you can cook an egg that quickly, then you could cook other foods as well. He began experimenting. Dr. Spencer enclosed the food to be cooked in a metal box that he fed the microwaves into. Dr. Spencer had invented what was to revolutionize cooking, and form the basis of a multimillion dollar industry, the microwave oven, another famous invention.

In 1947, Raytheon demonstrated the world's first microwave oven and called it a Radarange. The first microwave ovens cost between $2,000 and $3,000. Around 1952-55, Tappan introduced the first home model priced at $1295. In 1967 Raytheon owned Amana Refrigeration introduced the first countertop microwave oven. It cost just under $500 and was smaller, safer and more reliable than previous models.

By 1975, sales of microwave ovens would, for the first time, exceed that of gas ranges. In 1976, the microwave oven became a more commonly owned kitchen appliance than the dishwasher, reaching nearly about 52 million U.S. households. America's cooking habits were being dramatically changed by the convenience of the microwave oven. Once considered a luxury, the microwave oven had developed into a practical necessity for a fast-paced world.

The transistor

The transistor is possibly the most important of the famous inventions of the twentieth century. I don’t think it’s the most famous necessarily, but I believe it is one of the most important inventions ever. Without it there would be no personal computers, no cell phones, no calculators and no GPS system. Life would be quite different.

Before the advent of the transistor, the valve used in electronic circuits was the vacuum tube. The vacuum tube worked but it was bulky and used a lot of electrical power that ended up as heat which shortened the life of the tube itself. The transistor is small and uses much, much less power than the vacuum tube. Because it uses so little power there is little heat to dissipate and the transistor does not fail as fast as does a vacuum tube.

The transistor was successfully demonstrated on December 23, 1947 at Bell Laboratories in Murray Hill, New Jersey. Bell Labs was the research arm of American Telephone and Telegraph (AT&T). William Shockley, John Bardeen and Walter Brattain were the three individuals credited with the invention of the transistor.

Shockley had been working on the theory of such a device for more than ten years. While he could work out the theory successfully but after eight years of trying he could not build a working model. Bardeen and Brattain were called in to handle the engineering and development, which they did in the relatively short time of two years, creating point-contact transistor.

Nokia 5800 - the New Musical Xpress

Author: Matt Sharp

Do you like touchscreen mobile phones? Then prepare to see something exciting, because the Nokia 5800 is now here. Let's take a look at why this is going to rock the world.

Nokia touchscreen mobile phones in the past

Most people seem to be under the false impression that the Nokia 5800 is the first touchscreen phone to wear the Nokia label. It's not. Quite the opposite, in fact, there have been several touch-based phones released under the Nokia brand. Beginning at the 7700, there have been a couple of Nokia mobile phones which work by you prodding and poking the screen.

They all had reasonably big (for their time) screens, but unfortunately, they shared something else: they were unbearably rubbish. Only one of these devices, the 6708, displayed any promise, but that was made only for the Chinese market, and so, we never got to play with them in the UK. The mobile phones WE got were, and I use this phrase with much feeling, total, utter toss.

However, these bad mental images have all been removed due to the debut of two new Nokia mobile phones, both of which come with touchscreens, and both of which are so much more alluring...

Nokia 5800 - stunning musical power

The first phone on the roster is a totally new member of Nokia's Xpress line of music mobile phones, the gorgeous Nokia 5800. This one's pretty obviously designed for music and media, as it has a separate XpressMusic touch-key that brings up a list of shortcuts to music, videos, the internet, and so on.

Oh, and the Nokia 5800 has a 3.2 inch touch-sensitive display, to let you use all your media content. Essentially, the Nokia 5800 was designed as a little handheld entertainment centre, and as music phones go, this is easily one of the sweetest. The 5800 also has, built-in, a 3 megapixel camera, HSDPA internet connection and sat-nav, so that it's a wonderful all-rounder, on top of being a brilliant media player. Oh, and it's got a lanyard to attach a fake guitar plectrum very funky addition that adds that little bit more of a fun factor. Put it this way: until the Nokia N97 gets released, the 5800 is the best touchscreen phone Nokia have ever made.

Antimalware 2009: Rogue Anti-spyware Strikes Again

Author: Carl Atkinson

Just how many fake anti-spyware programs are out there? Antimalware 2009 is yet another bogus software out to cause harm to your pc and take your money. If you are just a normal, everyday person who surfs the web occasionally, you may not fully understand just what spyware is. You need to know - it could affect your computer!

Spyware is software that gets placed on your computer without your knowledge. It can come from visiting a website or downloading a file. Sometimes you will get it through no fault of your own, it just shows up. Spyware tracks your movements on the internet, what websites you visit, what your interests are. So, what does it hurt?

Plenty. By tracking what you do, spyware can get access to your personal information such as banking and credit card accounts, and any other business you do online. It can also put malware, viruses and other malicious threats on your pc. This can cause your computer to crash.

This is why you need anti-spyware, to remove these infections. The problem with this is that there are many fake software programs out there, such as Antimalware 2009. These rogue programs will tell you that you have threats, viruses and other dangerous parasites. It will then advertise that by downloading their software, it will clean up your pc and protect you from further trouble. Don't believe it.

What are the symptoms of spyware? A slow computer, advertisement pop ups, and freezing are a few of the signs that you may be infected. If you begin noticing strange things going on or messages that you have infections or threats, never click or download anything. This could be disastrous. A changing home page or new toolbar in your browser are also signs that something may be amiss.

Why do people make these malicious software programs? They can convince innocent people that their pc is contaminated with viruses and other threatening parasites, and cause them to panic. At this point, they hope the user will believe this hoax, and be persuaded to purchase their rogue anti-spyware program. This leaves your pc in more potential danger and you with a little less money.

Programs like Antimalware 2009 should be avoided like the plague. They will often place new parasites on your computer, which could eventually cause it to crash. Always be aware of any programs you are downloading, and make sure they are from a reliable source.

What should you do if you suspect you are the victim of a rogue anti-spyware assault? Make absolutely sure that you do not click on any of their advertisement or download buttons. Then, search online for a trusted and reputable anti-spyware program that others recommend.

Beware of rogue software programs like Antimalware 2009 - your computer and your personal information could be at extreme risk! Use only the best anti-spyware program to keep your pc in the best possible condition, free of parasites and infections. Be smart - protect your computer and your private information!

Nokia's New Hope - the 5800 and the N97

Author: Matt Sharp

Prepare to be excited; the biggest face in the industry has announced not one, but TWO new touchscreen mobile phones: the sexy Nokia 5800 and the completely awesome Nokia N97.

Nokia 5800 - sound off!

The first phone on the list is a completely new member of Nokia's Xpress range of music mobile phones, the stunning Nokia 5800. This phone is quite obviously made for music and video; you can tell by the dedicated XpressMusic touch-key which brings up a list of links to music, videos, the web, and more. Then, of course, the Nokia 5800 has a 3.2 inch touch-sensitive display, to let you muck about with all your media files. Basically, the Nokia 5800 was created to be a little handheld entertainment centre, and as music devices go, this is easily one of the sexiest. The Nokia 5800 also has, built-in, a 3 megapixel camera, HSDPA data connection and sat-nav, making it a wonderful all-round mobile phone, as well as a brilliant media box. Despite all those features, the Nokia 5800 is very definitely a mid-range phone; it's not, nor will it ever be, an absolute powerhouse. That job goes to a different phone...

Nokia N97 - raw power, pure desirability

With the Nokia 5800 all set to bring touch-based mobile phones to the mid-range market, that leaves a huge, yawning gap at the absolute top-end, and yes, there IS a touchscreen mobile phone on its way to fill that gap: the genuinely mind-blowing Nokia N97. This takes the same Symbian S60 Touch operating system and crams it into the frame of a proper, full-on smartphone. How the Finns Will Rule the World - Nokia 5800 and Nokia N97

Author: Matt Sharp

Touchscreen phones are BIG business nowadays, with every manufacturer scrabbling to make them. well, now, the biggest name in the business has waded in with not one, but TWO new touchscreen mobile phones: the svelte Nokia 5800 and the terrifyingly jaw-dropping Nokia N97.

Which means it has a bigger, 3.5 inch screen, a kick out QWERTY keyboard, and the camera's been upgraded to 5 megapixels. The Nokia N97 is, obviously, destined to be the new flagship Nseries mobile phone, and it's genuinely as high-spec as the rumours said, with HSDPA, sat-nav, digital compass, and built-in Flash, meaning you get an internet experience that tops any other mobile phones! Put it like this: the Nokia N97 is simple incredible. It gleefully relieves itself over other mobile phones and while the 5800 angles to take over the mid-range, I reckon that the Nokia N97 will totally DOMINATE the world next year!

Nokia 5800 - the Herald of a New Daw is on Its Way

Author: Matt Sharp

Nokia's first ever mainstream entry in the world of touchscreen phones is about to be released in the UK, and now, it's time to see why this phone is so eagerly anticipated. Say hello to the Nokia 5800.

Phones we'd rather forget – Nokia's early attempts at a touchscreen phone

A lot of people seem to be under the incorrect impression that the Nokia 5800 is the first touchscreen mobile phone Nokia have ever made. It's not. Actually, there have been a few touch-based phones released under the Nokia badge. Beginning with the 7700, the world has seen a few Nokia mobile phones that work by you prodding and poking the screen. They had a relatively big (for the time) touchscreen in common, but unfortunately, they shared something else: they were utterly rubbish.

Only one of these mobile phones, the 6708, displayed any promise, but it was made exclusively for China, and thus, it never saw the light of day in these sceptred isles. Unfortunately, that meant that the phones we got were a poor breed, indeed. However, those bad recollections have now been removed due to the debut of a new Nokia mobile phone, which comes with a touchscreen, and which is considerably more alluring...

Nokia 5800 - musical genius

The first phone on the roster is a completely new member of Nokia's Xpress line of music mobile phones, the mouth-watering Nokia 5800. This one's pretty obviously designed for music and media, as it has a dedicated XpressMusic touch-key that opens a list of shortcuts to music, videos, the web, and more. Then, of course, the Nokia 5800 has a 3.2 inch touch-sensitive display, to actually play with all your media content. Essentially, the Nokia 5800 was created as a little handheld entertainment centre, and as music phones go, this is just about the sweetest. The Nokia 5800 also comes with a 3 megapixel camera, HSDPA internet connection and sat-nav, making it a wonderful all-round mobile phone, as well as a superb media gadget. Oh, and it has a lanyard to attach a fake guitar plectrum. Pointless, but brilliant.

So, is the new Nokia 5800 really the best touchscreen phone on the market? And how about it's other life as a music phone (since it's an XpressMusic handset, like its predecessor, the first phone to wear the Xpress badge, the Nokia 5310)? Well, there can be no doubt that the playback quality is simply exceptional on the Nokia 5800, with beautiful clear sound, and pumping bass. of course, the interface helps, too, since it makes accessing everything on the 5800 a breeze. All in all, then, the Nokia 5800 is one accomplished little mobile phones, and it's very clear that Nokia have hit a home run with it!

Nokia N97 - Special Preview for a Special Phone

Author: Matt Sharp

Announced in late 2008, the Nokia N97 is one of the most spectacular mobile phones the Finnish manufacturer's ever come up with. Let's take a look at this awesome device, and see why it's so special.

A potted history of Nokia touchscreen phones

Most people seem to be under the false impression that the Nokia 5800 is the first touchscreen mobile phone Nokia have ever made. It isn't. The opposite's true, because there have been a few touch-based phones to wear the Nokia name. Beginning with the 7700, the world has seen a couple of Nokia mobile phones that are controlled by you pressing directly on the screen. They all had reasonably big (for their time) screens, but the other feature they had in common, unfortunately, was that they were irredeemably hideous. Just one of those mobile phones, the 6708, displayed any promise, but that was destined solely to be sold in China, and so, we never got to play with them in Britain. The mobile phones WE got were, and I use this phrase with much feeling, utter, utter bobbins.

However, those unpleasant memories have now been firmly erased by the launch of a new Nokia mobile phone, which comes with a touch-sensitive display, and which is much, much nicer...

Bang up to date with the Nokia N97

One glance at the new Nokia N97 is enough to confirm that this is one of the most beautiful mobile phones Nokia have ever made. It's not just the sleek, sexy body that gives the Nokia N97 its charm, it's also that enormous touchscreen on the front of the phone, coming in at 3.5 inches, with a widescreen resolution. The fact that it's a full touchscreen adds a whole new dimension to the Nokia N97, as well, allowing you to interact with your phone in a far more direct and exciting fashion. That's aided, of course, by the interface in the Nokia N97, a new extension of the S60 Touch interface soon to be seen in the Nokia 5800. Suffice to say, the Nokia N97, being a far more powerful top-end mobile phone, takes it far further than its mid-range sibling, making the N97, by a considerable margin, the best touchscreen phone Nokia have ever made.

Into the future with the Nokia N97

In fact, no previous Nokia phones can match the Nokia N97 for power. Opening the list of functions and features is a superb 5 megapixel camera, so that you can snap some truly gorgeous images with the Nokia N97. Needless to say, they'll display in luscious colour on the phone's touchscreen, and with the built-in GPS, you can even add location data to them. As well as GPS connectivity, the Nokia N97 comes complete with a raft of internet connectivity options, including HSDPA and WiFi, which, in conjunction with the web browser, provide an internet experience that's reminiscent of other Nokia phone, whilst being far more compelling. In terms of multimedia, you get top-end gaming, video and music, and a massive 32Gb of memory built into the phone, expanding its range of roles to include mobile phone, mobile broadband internet device, sat-nav and portable entertainment centre. Essentially, it's very hard to find anything the Nokia N97 won't do, and because of that, it seems likely this will easily be Nokia's phone of the year!

Nokia 5800 and Nokia N97 - Mobile Phones That Deserve our Respect

Author: Matt Sharp

There's no doubt the iPhone gave everyone who makes mobile phones a wake up call. And now, the biggest name in phones has answered that call with TWO new handsets: the sleek Nokia 5800 and the terrifyingly mind-blowing Nokia N97.

Why should we care if Nokia make touchscreen phones?

It's a question that some people have asked, and it's quite an important one... Nokia clearly have a massive market share. And yet, they're only just started making mobile phones with touchscreens. Given that their previous forays into the world of touchscreen phones have been unusual at best and downright unusable at worst, why now should things be any different? Why should be that interested in the Nokia 5800 or the Nokia N97?

Well, there's a simple answer to that: the iPhone. By that, I mean that the iPhone has made every manufacturer up their game, and look at how their mobile phones work, how they interact with the user, and how they can enrich the user's life. Nokia, it seems, have taken that to heart, and have created an entirely new operating system; a whole new software world to build their touchscreen phones on. That, in itself is a compelling reason to pay attention to their new handsets, but it's not just about the software. How we, as users, react to mobile phones is based purely on our feelings, and what Nokia have done here is craft a pair of mobile phones that can genuinely make you feel better than ever!

Nokia 5800 - touch and listen...

The first phone up is a completely new member of Nokia's Xpress range of music mobile phones, the gorgeous Nokia 5800. This phone is pretty obviously built for music and media, as it has a dedicated XpressMusic touch-key that opens a list of links to music, videos, the internet, and more. Then, of course, the Nokia 5800 has a 3.2 inch touch-sensitive display, to let you use those different media content.

Essentially, the Nokia 5800 was designed to be a teeny portable entertainment centre, and as music devices go, this is just about the prettiest. The Nokia 5800 has also got a 3 megapixel camera, HSDPA internet connection and sat-nav, so that it's a brilliant all-round mobile phone, on top of being a wonderful media box. Oh, and it has a strap to fasten on an imitation guitar pick. That is really very funky. However, the Nokia 5800 is very definitely a mid-range phone; it's not, nor was it ever meant to be, a full-fat powerhouse. That job falls to another device...

Nokia N97 - raw, phone-based power

With the Nokia 5800 on course to bring touchscreen mobile phones to the mid-range market, that leaves a very big gap at the very top-end of the product range; well, there IS a touch-based mobile phone coming soon to take its place as the top-end powerhouse: the utterly awesome Nokia N97. This uses the same Symbian S60 Touch operating system and packages it within the shell of a proper, full-fat smartphone.

So it has a massive, 3.5 inch screen, a flip out QWERTY keyboard, and the camera's been upgraded to 5 megapixels. The Nokia N97 is, as should be glaringly obvious, destined to be the new flagship Nseries mobile phone, and it's truly as high-spec as we'd heard from rumours, with HSDPA, GPS, digital compass, and integrated Flash, meaning you have an internet experience like no other mobile phones! Put simply the Nokia N97 is unbelievable. It gleefully relieves itself over other mobile phones and while the Nokia 5800 aims to take over the mid-range, I'm predicting that the Nokia N97 will utterly DOMINATE the world next year!

Dell Inspiron 1525

Author: Pooja Lapasia

For those who prefer performance over everything else, Dell Inspiron 1525 is the perfect choice amongst laptops available today. Dell Inspiron 1525 succeeds its cousin, Inspiron 1520, just after 6 months of the latter’s launch, of course with advanced features and a more promising performance. Now that’s called competing with oneself!

The new Dell Inspiron 1525 is lighter in weight (about a half pound lighter than Inspiron 1520), has a sleeker body (about 25% smaller than Inspiron 1520) and has added features. So if you though small is the word for Laptops, and if you have been a great fan of Dell XPS M1530, you would be in for a surprise; Dell Inspiron 1525 is smaller at 9.8 x 13.9 x 1.4 inches. The color options provided with Inspiron 1520 – jet black, ruby red, sunshine yellow, espresso brown and alpine white.

The multimedia experience becomes richer with 15.4 inch widescreen and D-SLR camera. HDMI port allows your laptop to connect to a bigger display, a feature unique and exclusive to Inspiron 1525 as compared to other Inspirons. Dell Inspiron 1525 has 4 USB ports and a fire wire port, good to take care of the peripherils and gizmos. One of the features, Dell offers a cellular modem to keep you connected even on the move. With Inspiron 1525, choices are available in Verizon's, Sprint's EV-DO Rev A and AT&T's HSDPA modems, wherein you can choose if you have a preference in modems. A 2 megapixel camera on the screen adds to your internet experience.

Dell never disappoints with the processor options. And the beauty is that no matter what processor you choose, there will never be a performance mismatch. Since this system has Windows Vista Home Premium loaded, a RAM of less than 2 GB would not let the system perform to its optimum performance level. The battery life is again an added boon with approximately 4 hours of runtime.

The best part about buying a Dell is that it can be customized to the minutest of the details. So if you do not prefer the glossy screen you can opt for the standard anti glare screen. And for a little added cost you can get a color of you preference, Bluetooth, built-in wireless, integrated mobile broadband card including others.

The only drawback with the Dell Inspiron 1525 is that for the slimmer look, it had to give away the dedicated video card. Which means that with an Intel Integrated Graphics Media Accelerator X3100 (without a dedicated video card option), the usage gets limited to 2D applications.

The Wide World of Touchscreen Mobile Phones - Nokia 5800 and Sony Ericsson X1

Author: Matt Sharp

Touchscreen mobile phones come in all shapes and sizes, from tiny touchy critters to big, powerhouse phones. Let's look at two of the coolest phones out there: the Nokia 5800 and the Sony Ericsson X1.

A brief history of ti- er, touchscreen mobile phones

Touchscreen mobile phones have only ever really enjoyed modest success over history, beginning way back when, with the IBM Simon (a phone about the size of Nicaragua), and progressing forwards to include mobile phones like the Sony Ericsson P800 and the Motorola A920. In actual fact, Sony Ericsson have been one of the main proponents of the touchscreen movement, with their P-Series mobile phones frequently taking centre-stage. Then, along came Microsoft and Windows Mobile, and another competitor entered the marketplace. Even then, though, their success was only slightly increased. As much as I hate to admit it, it took one mobile phone to really kick start the current boom in touchscreen phones: the Apple iPhone. Because of that single (and in my opinion, rubbish) mobile phone, everybody else upped their game. Sony Ericsson set out to make Windows Mobile cool with the X1, and Nokia, the biggest name in the business, have launched a phone designed to take on the iPhone on 2 fronts: music and that touchscreen.

It is, of course, the Nokia 5800...

Nokia 5800 - touchscreens for the young funky generation

First up is a brand new member of Nokia's Xpress line of music mobile phones, the mouth-watering Nokia 5800. This one's pretty obviously built for music and video; you can tell by the separate XpressMusic touch-key that opens a list of shortcuts to music, videos, the web, and so on. Oh, and the Nokia 5800 has a 3.2 inch touch-sensitive display, to let you play with those different media content. Basically, the Nokia 5800 was created to be a little portable jukebox and movie player, and as music devices go, this is just about the sweetest. The Nokia 5800 also has, built-in, a 3 megapixel camera, HSDPA internet access and GPS, making it a brilliant all-round mobile phone, as well as a brilliant media player. Oh, and it has a strap to fasten on a fake guitar pick. That's pretty cool, that.

However, the Nokia 5800 is very definitely a mid-range phone; it's not, nor will it ever be, an absolute top-ender. To see a mobile phone like that, we have to look elsewhere...

Sony Ericsson X1 - Windows on the soul

I've done a few articles on the Sony Ericsson X1, so I'm not going to get too bogged down in the features here. I could do, and I COULD go on about the 3 megapixel camera, or the GPS, or the media player, or the brand new interface, or the fact that the X1 is the first Sony Ericsson mobile phone to use Windows Mobile. But I won't. Instead, I'm going to focus on what features make it the king of internet-enabled mobile phones. It has to be said, that most of the reasons for it being so good online come from it being based on Windows Mobile, so you get things like MSN Messenger, Internet Explorer and Outlook, built into the Sony Ericsson X1. Combine that with the blisteringly quick HSDPA internet access, and the absolutely marvellous QWERTY keyboard, and you get one heck of an internet device. Between the mid-range Nokia 5800 and the high-end Sony Ericsson X1, I'd say the touchscreen mobile phone market is looking rather healthy this year!

Nokia 5800 and Nokia N97 - Plans for World Domination Come to Fruition

Author: Matt Sharp

The world of touchscreen mobile phones is starting to get exciting, as the biggest brand in the business has waded in with not one, but TWO mobile phones: the sexy Nokia 5800 and the utterly awesome Nokia N97.

Early attempts - woeful touchscreen phones!

Many people are under the false impression that the Nokia 5800 is the first touchscreen mobile phone Nokia have ever made. It isn't. The opposite's true, because there have been several touch-based phones released under the Nokia brand. Beginning at the 7700, there have been a few Nokia mobile phones that work by touch. They had a relatively big (for the time) touchscreen in common, but but unfortunately, they shared something else: they were irredeemably hideous. Only one of those devices, the 6708, showed any potential, but it was destined exclusively to be sold in China, and thus, it wasn't meant for us in the UK. The mobile phones WE got were, and I use this phrase with much feeling, total, and complete garbage.

However, those unpleasant memories have now been removed because of the launch of a pair of new Nokia mobile phones, both of which have touchscreens, and both of which are much, much nicer...

Nokia 5800 - rockin' in the free world

The first phone up is a totally new entrant into Nokia's Xpress range of music mobile phones, the stunning Nokia 5800. This one's quite obviously designed for music and video; you can tell by the separate XpressMedia button that opens a list of links to music, videos, the internet, and so on. Then, of course, the Nokia 5800 has a 3.2 inch touchscreen, to let you play with those different media files. Basically, the Nokia 5800 was designed to be a teeny portable jukebox and movie player, and as music phones go, this is just about the sweetest. The Nokia 5800 has also got a 3 megapixel camera, HSDPA data access and sat-nav, making it a wonderful all-rounder, as well as a superb media gadget. Oh, and it has a lanyard to fasten on an imitation guitar plectrum. That's pretty cool, that.

However, the Nokia 5800 is very definitely a mid-range phone; it isn't, nor will it ever be, an absolute powerhouse. That role falls to a separate device...

Nokia N97 - a mobile multimedia monster!

With the Nokia 5800 all set to bring touch-based mobile phones to the mid-range market, that leaves a great big gap at the very top-end, and yes, there IS a touchscreen mobile phone waiting to be unleashed to fill that gap: the frankly awesome Nokia N97. This uses the same Symbian S60 Touch interface and packages it into the frame of a proper, full-tilt smartphone. Which means it has an even more huge, 3.5 inch screen, a slide out QWERTY keypad, and the camera now weighs in at a meaty 5 megapixels. The Nokia N97 is, in a very definite way, destined to be the new flagship Nseries mobile phone, and it really is as hyper-powered as the rumours said, with HSDPA, sat-nav, digital compass, and integrated Flash, meaning you get an internet experience that tops any other mobile phones! Put it like this: the Nokia N97 is simple incredible. It gleefully relieves itself over other mobile phones and as the Nokia 5800 angles to take over the mid-range, I'm predicting that the Nokia N97 will utterly DOMINATE the world next year!

Asp.net - Developers Choice for Web Development

Author: Hidden Brains

Website development is the beautiful, technical and ingenious work for the online presentation of the different kind of information. This information may show a discrepancy such as business related as well social & cultural. For the creation of attractive, effective websites web developers use a variety of programming languages and ASP.NET website development is popular for easy creation and great features. Plus being a product of world famous Microsoft, it is admired by large web development community at global level.

Like other programming languages it is a full featured programming language for the development of dynamic websites for the online presentation business and its products globally. Under ASP.NET web development work, developers are enabled to perform a variety of web development jobs such as custom software applications, mobile games, web applications, product development, ecommerce shopping cart and database management. According to the ASP.NET experts it is popularized as latest version of Microsoft's Active Server Pages technology (ASP) and widely developers are using this technology for the development of dynamic websites, XML web services and web applications. Technology is having power for the development of large sized enterprise applications for the big companies.

From the technical point of view of the developers why they prefer ASP.NET for the web development?

They enjoy writing very less code for the development of large applications, it offers server-side programming model to make the development work simpler, writing pages in ASP.NET are easier as it provides source code and HTML together, execution of source code on server provides power & flexibility, fast compilation of source code in first request of page because server saves the compiled version for the next time, more security of application source code as it do not sent back to browser, due to inbuilt configuration developer needs not to register components, security through continue monitoring of (pages, components and applications running on it) by web server which automatically kills the (illegal software, memory leaks, infinite loops, etc) and restarts itself and without writing code it provides validation controls.

ASP.NET is server-side technology, as it is most advantageous part in addition to long list of features. Before sending to browser, code use to execute on server and code which is sent back to browser is HTML instead of ASP.NET code which ultimately provides the more security to code from unwanted stealing.

ASP.NET is serving the web development world from year 2002 and introduced five upgraded versions with advanced features. It’s latest in 2008 version 3.5 service pack released with Visual Studio 2008 Service Pack 1.

Qwerty Phone Battle - Nokia N97 Vs Sony Ericsson X1

Author: Matt Sharp

One phone is causing a big stir in the world of mobile phones: the QWERTY follow-up to the 5800, the Nokia N97. But is the Sony Ericsson X1 the fly in its ointment...?

Nokia N97 - all set to dominate the world?

With the Nokia 5800 on course to bring touchscreen mobile phones to the mid-range market, that leaves a massive gap at the very top-end, and yes, there IS a touchscreen mobile phone on its way to take its place as the top-end powerhouse: the utterly awesome Nokia N97. This takes the same Symbian S60 Touch interface and packages it into the shell of a proper, full-tilt smartphone. Which means it has an even more huge, 3.5 inch screen, a flip out QWERTY keyboard, and the camera's been upgraded to 5 megapixels. The Nokia N97 is, in a very definite way, destined to be the new flagship Nseries mobile phone, and it's genuinely as high-spec as the rumours had us believe, with HSDPA, GPS, digital compass, and integrated Flash, so that you get an internet experience that tops any other mobile phones! Put it like this: the Nokia N97 is awesome. It easily outdoes just about all other mobile phones and as the Nokia 5800 angles to take over the mid-range, the Nokia N97 is clearly designed to dominate the high-end market.

But the thing is... there's already a QWERTY mobile phone on the market that is better than any before it, and it could well put a spanner in the spoke of the Nokia N97.

Sony Ericsson X1 - already setting the world alight

Released at the tail end of 2008, the Sony Ericsson X1 is the Swedish/Japanese manufacturer's first foray into the world of Windows Mobile phones, and quite frankly, it's the best Windows Mobile phone ever made. It's ludicrously powerful, and has a unique 'arc slider' mechanism to reveal the keyboard, but more than that, the Sony Ericsson X1 has about every conceivable bell and whistle it's possible for mobile phones to have. GPS, WiFi, and HSDPA, it does them all with aplomb. And since the screen resolution is a whopping 800x480 pixels, it tops nearly every other mobile phone in existence for sharpness of screen. The only downside, technically speaking, of the Sony Ericsson X1 is its camera, coming in at just 3 megapixels. But (and its a big but), since Sony Ericsson put exceptional cameras on their mobile phones, a 3 megapixel Sony Ericsson camera is probably not that far off the quality of a 5 megapixel Nokia camera. All in all, then, the Sony Ericsson X1 is one serious contender for the best phone ever made, which makes the Nokia N97's job even harder...

''Should I get the Sony Ericsson X1, or wait for the Nokia N97?''

So, the big question is should you take he plunge and get the Sony Ericsson X1 now, or wait and see what the Nokia N97 turns out to be like? Well, there's no doubt that, on paper, the Nokia N97 seems to be the better of the two mobile phones, with a higher-megapixel camera, and a bigger screen that'll display more colours. However, it's not that simple. The sheer fact that the Nokia N97 has a bigger and more colourful screen than the Sony Ericsson X1 means it'll eat batteries, and the X1 should easily outlast it before needing charging. Also, there are rumours of the 16Gb of memory on the Nokia N97 being slow to access, and the unproven nature of the Symbian Touch operating system makes it slightly less of a prospect. And trust me when i say the Sony Ericsson X1 will take some beating. I know this because I asked myself the same question I'm asking here, and I decided that the sensible choice was to get the Sony Ericsson X1. So, I got one. And believe me, it's just about the best phone I've ever seen!

Blackberry Storm Vs Htc Touch Hd - Which is the Best Touchscreen Mobile Phone?

As we head into a brand new year, let's take a look at two touchscreen mobile phones that have come into this year with us, and ask the question: which is best, the Blackberry Storm or the HTC Touch HD?

Blackberry Storm - the first ever touch-based Blackberry

Everyone knew it would happen eventually, after the iPhone was released, but this was the email giant's response: the totally new, and totally innovative Blackberry Storm, RIM's first ever touchscreen mobile phone. Oh, and I do mean innovative, because the Blackberry Storm has a whole new type of touchscreen, one that no other mobile phones have. You see, the Blackberry Storm has the world's first ever 'clickable' touchscreen, and if you're wondering what that means, well, basically it means that when you press the screen on the Blackberry Storm, it moves. It only moves a bit into the phone, but it does physically move, meaning that the whole screen on the Blackberry Storm acts as one giant button. So, when going through menus, you can tap the screen all you want, but it only selects something when you press the screen. So, that means no more accidentally starting programs you didn't mean to, and when you're typing on the onscreen keypad, the Blackberry Storm makes it feel like your typing on a real keypad! That's rather useful, especially as the Blackberry Storm, needless to say, comes with the famous Blackberry email service. That's not all you get, though, as it comes with a 3 megapixel camera, HSDPA and GPS, along with Blackberry Maps, music player and tons of multimedia options. In other words, the Blackberry Storm is the very definition of the word smartphone.

HTC Touch HD - Windows Mobile gets a sexy new vessel

The HTC Touch HD was a mobile phone that surprised us all, since it virtually came out of nowhere. We'd seen the Diamond and the Touch Pro, so I don't think anyone was expecting was about to get leaked next. But when it was, blimey did it grab us by the throat and not let go! There was one big (emphasis on the big) factor that caught everyone's attention more than anything else: the HTC Touch HD comes with a massive 3.8 inch screen. not only is that bigger than the screens on any other phone, it's bigger than most mobile phones! Combine that huge size with a resolution of 800x480 pixels, and the brilliant TouchFLO 3D interface, and you get the HTC Touch HD, a phone that's going to give you the most satisfying touch-based phone experience you've ever come across. Put it this way, the HTC Touch HD is the first keyboard-less mobile phone that I can honestly say doesn't need a keyboard. The massive screen makes touch commands so much easier than previous touchscreen mobile phones (and yes, that includes the iPhone). Features-wise, you get a 5 megapixel camera (alas, lacking a flash), HSDPA for super fast internet (and super-smooth, since you get Opera Mobile), WiFi, and GPS. In other words, the HTC Touch HD is simply stunning.

Blackberry Storm vs HTC Touch HD - Which should you buy?

So, if it comes down to a choice, which should you buy? Which is better, the innovative clicky screen of the Blackberry Storm, or the frighteningly HUGE screen of the HTC Touch HD? Well, on paper, the Blackberry Storm, but in the real world, there are a few issues. the biggest, and most worrying is that its innovation and biggest selling point is also its biggest flaw. You have to press the screen to select things, but the problem is that the screen takes that much force to press that when typing anything, it's going to kill your thumbs very quickly, and start hurting. That's a big black mark against the Blackberry Storm, that, having an email device that hurts you when you type and email. On top of that, the new operating system on the Blackberry Storm is rumoured to be a bit buggy, again letting it down. No such problems with the HTC Touch HD, however, because it has the already-proven TouchFLO interface, which is simply one of the best no the market. Not only that, but it hammers the Blackberry Storm in every way, from camera to web browser, from the onscreen keyboard to music, everything (well, in truth, the HTC Touch HD hammers just about all other mobile phones you can name). That's why, if I had choose, I'd go for the HTC Touch HD any day. However, you should note, neither of them are as good as the Sony Ericsson X1...

Nokia 5800 and Nokia N97 - Or, How to Dominate Touchscreen Mobile Phones

Author: Matt Sharp

If you like touchscreen phones, you should be wetting yourself with excitement about now; the biggest name in the business has announced not one, but TWO mobile phones: the sexy Nokia 5800 and the totally awesome Nokia N97.

Lessons from history – Nokia early learns how NOT to make a touchscreen phone

A lot of people are under the false assumption that the Nokia 5800 is the first ever touchscreen mobile phone to come from the Finnish manufacturer. It isn't. Actually, there have been several touch-based phones to wear the Nokia brand. Starting at the 7700, there have been a few Nokia mobile phones that work by you pressing directly on the screen. They all shared pretty big touchscreens, but the other feature they had in common, unfortunately, was that they were unbearably hideous. Just one of these mobile phones, the 6708, showed any potential, but it was destined only for China, and so, we never got to play with them in the UK. The mobile phones WE got were, and I use this phrase with much feeling, utter, utter toss.

However, those unpleasant recollections have now been removed because of the announcement of two new Nokia mobile phones, both of which have touch-sensitive displays, and both of which are much, much more alluring...

Nokia 5800 - finger-tapping, toe-taping musical genius

First on the roster is a brand new member of Nokia's Xpress family of music mobile phones, the gorgeous Nokia 5800. This phone is quite obviously designed for music and video; you can tell by the dedicated XpressMedia touch-key that opens a list of shortcuts to music, videos, the internet, and so on. Oh, and the Nokia 5800 has a 3.2 inch touch-sensitive display, to let you play with all your media content. Basically, the Nokia 5800 was created to be a little portable jukebox and movie player, and as music devices go, this is just about the sweetest. The Nokia 5800 has also got a 3 megapixel camera, HSDPA internet connection and sat-nav, making it a brilliant all-rounder, as well as a superb media player. Oh, and it has a strap to clip on an imitation guitar plectrum. Pointless, but brilliant.

Despite all those features, the Nokia 5800 is very definitely a mid-range device; it isn't, nor will it ever be, an absolute top-ender. That position goes to a different mobile...

Nokia N97 - phenomenal cosmic power

With the Nokia 5800 on track to deliver touch-based mobile phones to the mid-range market, that opens up a great big gap at the absolute top-end of the product range; well, there IS a touch-based mobile phone waiting to be unleashed to fill that gap: the utterly jaw-dropping Nokia N97. This takes the same Symbian S60 Touch interface and crams it within the body of a proper, full-tilt smartphone. So it's got an even more huge, 3.5 inch screen, a flip out QWERTY keypad, and the camera now weighs in at a meaty 5 megapixels. The Nokia N97 is, in a very definite way, destined to be the new flagship Nseries mobile phone, and it really is as powerful as we'd heard from rumours, with HSDPA, GPS, digital compass, and built-in Flash, meaning you have an internet experience like no other mobile phones! Put simply the Nokia N97 is unbelievable. It easily outdoes other mobile phones and while the Nokia 5800 aims firmly for the mid-range, I reckon that the Nokia N97 will totally DESTROY the competition in 2009!
