Samsung India announced the launch of world’s first full touch-screen phone that offers High Definition 720p video recording on a 360x640pixel resolution 9.4cm AMOLED (Active Matrix Organic Light Emitting Diode) display that offers vibrant pictures and consumes less power offering better backup time for your battery.
The display reproduces bright and vibrant visuals also the touch interface works great. The only drawback in this phone is that Samsung has yet to perfect the adaptation of Symbian operating system like Nokia has. This phone runs the latest Symbian Series 6 OS along with an ARM Cortex A8 600 MHz processor and an independent 3D graphics accelerator the PowerVR SGX 530 GPU. In many of the places and the official Samsung Press release, you will find that it is mentioned that this phone has a 1GHz processor but the fact is that it is a sum total of the processor and the graphic accelerator.
The 8 megapixel autofocus camera supports up to a maximum resolution of 3264X2448 pixels. For low light conditions the Omnia HD sports a LED flash for illumination, which is not great but can be useful sometimes. Images captured in light are crisp and blur free, all thanks to its Image stabilization and ISO 1600 recording speed. In the dark images tend to be a little grainy. Its massive 16GB memory is enough to take care of your day to day storage needs plus the 256MB of RAM certainly helps the phone to work faster. If you still are not happy with it then you can add up to 32 GB micro SD card to increase its storage. Samsung Mobile Phone
With its big screen and its inbuilt GPS capabilities this phone also doubles itself up as a Personal Navigation Device and it also features voice guidance. Although this phone misses out on the embedded GPS Chip but the A-GPS works equally well.
It also supports virtual 5.1Ch Dolby surround, and the sound is equally good through the set of supplied earplugs. IT also has a 1500 mAh Lithium-ion battery pack that can power this device for longer times but the actual backup will depend on the user’s usage. Overall the Omnia HD is a great phone with an easy to use interface and top of the line features. It can seriously be considered as one of the very few phones that can stand tall against the Apple iPhone. But With technology improving every second we cannot really say that how much longer this phone will be able to stay among the top few.
